For those of you who are serving, those of us who have served, those who aren't here any more, thank you for your service to our country. Some things in life I've done well, some not so good. Like everyone, I've made some mistakes, and other times, I've made good decisions. One of the best decisions I ever made was joining the United States Navy. I had the honor or proudly serving for 12 1/2 years and loved every single minute of it. I'm proud of what it stands for, respect and honor the sacrifice those sailors and all of our military members, past and present, make for the people of the United States and the fruits that are gained from the jobs that the military does. Their family life is non-existent some times. They miss a lot of birthdays, holidays, dance recitals, teacher conferences, dinners, deaths and family emergencies. What the member goes through, so does their family. While some of us are nice and cozy in our homes, those military members are out in the heat on a dessert with no air conditioning wearing 35 to 50 pounds of clothing and gear. Their lives are put on the line every single minute of the day for people they don't know, for people who don't care about them. And while the members know those people wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire, they will give their lives to defend that right not to respect them. Shame on those who don't see the selfishness in their ways.
In honor of this day, I used the image Little Honey - Sailor Honey from
Sassy Studio Designs. I've always loved this sassy girl and she reminds me of so many people I knew and served with. She really reminds me of me back in my good little sailorette days! Heaven knows this could very well be my daughter, Tiffany, when she served!
Isn't she something? She's colored with copics and Spectrum Noir markers and the paper is Fleur Rouge Collection from Anna Griffin. I love her papers! She's cut out with my Nestabilities, has stickles on her uniform, distressed ink around the edges, and the brads are from Studio 112. I used a Martha Stewart edger (you can't see very much of it since it's behind the circle.
