I'm a Guest Designer for Sketch Saturday!

Imagine my surprise Sunday when I was checking comments on my blog before running off to work at the bowling alley when I read a message that Coco, from Sketch Saturday, said she loved my card and asked if I'd be a Guest Designer for two weeks! It took a day for it to set in and I just couldn't believe it! Coco, I'm so thrilled, flattered, and honored and I hope I've not let you down. Make sure you stop by Sketch Saturday and look at all the talented stampers over there. They rock! I'd love to see what everyone does with this sketch. It was so fun to play with!

I love little furry friends and when I saw Young Catherine With Friends from Anki's Sweethearts for SCACD, I had to do her! I love the freshness of this line of stamps and all the details. Look at how stinkin sweet those little chicks are! Reminds me of my girls at Easter wanting chicks instead of a chocolate bunny. In our case, the chocolate bunny always won out!

I colored her with copics and used some Shimmerz on the chicks and my spica glitter pen on her flower and patches. The paper is from Chloe's Closet by Making Memories and the pearls are from Kaisercraft. I wanted to keep her look wholesome so I used buttons with Scrapper's floss. I think she's just adorable.

Card Ingredients: Young Catherine With Friends by Anki's Sweethearts for SCACD, Sunflower Shimmerz, Brown Scrapper's Floss, Kaisercraft Pearls, Atyou Spica Clear Glitter Pen, buttons, copics.

Mermaid Anya

I can't help it, I just love mermaids! I see them everywhere now! When I saw Mermaid Anya in Summer's store at Roses on Paper, I had to have her! I love The Greeting Farm and this is on the top of my favorites list!

I always talk about Nichole and her love for "The Little Mermaid", but I'm so excited to be able to share that sweet movie with my two grandbabies - Allie and Emma. Gosh, the time is going by so fast and they're growing so much every day. Pretty soon they'll be coming over to Nana's to watch Ariel and swim in the bathtub, singing at the top of their lungs! Oh, how I miss those days.

Mermaid Anya is colored with distressed inks and is highlighted with Shimmerz and Stickles. I added the shells for effec and I love the fish charms! I used my Devine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder to give some texture to the water! Most of the products can be purchased from Summer. Stop by her store and have a look around. She's got some beautiful things!

I hope you enjoy her as much as I did presenting her.

Card Ingredients: Mermaid Anya by The Greeting Farm, Shimmerz, Stickles, Dew Drops, Pearls.

Try It Out Tuesday # 6 - Plant Seeds of Friendship

I've learned a lot about friendship today. I spent a great afternoon with my friend Lynn at one of our local craft stores. Did we have a great time! Then I got to spend some time with my cyber friends and how good that was for my soul. And in between, I got the chance to play with some more of Anki's Sweethearts, the new line of stamps from Susana's store. I think it's appropriate that I had decided my next project was going to be a seed packet!

Suzanne, our fearless Design Team Leader, tasked us with doing anything but a card for our For our Try It Out Tuesday for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. I fell in love with Julia with flowers and I knew I wanted to do something with a garden for her. I found the greatest place for a template for seed packets, cut it out and used my nestibilities oval to cut out the front of the packet. I covered it with acetate and glued the sides together. I used velcro for the back of the card to hold it closed. I love how she turned out. She made me smile after a pretty trying evening. Here's a copy of the back of the packet.

Make sure to stop by the store's Design Team Blog, Follow Your Heart, and check out what my other talented team members have done with these great stamps. The stamp so clear and crisp and are just down right fun to create with.

Enjoy the projects and remember to always plant seeds of friendship wherever you go. Those buds turn into beautiful flowers and friends that can last a lifetime.

Card Ingredients: Julia with Flowers by Anki's Sweethearts, Bella Baubles in Lilac, Bazzil Flowers, Copics, Distressed Stickles in Worn Lipstick, acetate sheets.

Whenever you're near me,

I hear a symphony... Gosh, I love The Supremes! When I saw this adorable image, First Kiss, at Summer's store, Roses on Paper, that song just jumped into my head. I used to sit and listen to Diana Ross sing and thought I'd never heard anything sound so beautiful. to me she represented glamour, fame, fortune, she had it all. Motown is still my favorite music and I could still listen to Diana belt out a song anytime.

Our sweet and extremely talented Lim, one of my fellow Design Team members at Roses on Paper gave us a theme challenge, Love and Friendship. I had to use first kiss, not because it's a no brainer, but because as sweet and innocent as they look, they have to be friends! Great challenge, Lim! Make sure to drop by my other fellow Design Team members blogs and see their gorgeous creations! I hope you all will participate in our challenge over on our Design Team blog. You can find all the details there.

I used the sketch from i(heart)2stamp for this card (love their sketches!) and stamped First Kiss with Staz-On in Jet Black and colored them with Distressed Inks. The paper is from Prima First Blush collection (how appropriate!), I used prima flowers with stickles and some dew drops. I adore the earthy tones and hope you enjoy this sweet moment in time for them. Everything highlighted below can be picked up from Summer's great store.

And don't forget to stop by the PCP group for Summer's big announcement about working with the wonderfully talented illustrator, Elisabeth Bell! I'm so over the moon on that that I still can't quite believe it! Go check it out!

I'm off today from school so I'm going to relax and create. I think I'm even going to put some Motown on. Yep, sounds like the thing to do.

Card recipe: "First Kiss" by Sarah Kay, First Blush paper by Prima, Prima flowers, Distressed Inks, Icicle stickles, dew drops, scrapper's floss,
