Dress Up Anya and Ian

Meet Anya and Ian all dressed up! You can snatch these sweeties and their wardrobe up from Summer at Roses on Paper. You can also get all the products highlighted from Summer. Check them out!

I love paper dolls. I can't count the number of hours that I spent meticulously cutting them out and dressing and undressing them and coming up with all kinds of adventures for them to go on. My grandmother used to get McCall's Magazine and she used to save all of the Betsy McCall's for me. We would make a special time between the two of us and and I'd go next door and she'll pull that month's doll out and would sit and talk to me as I cut her and her outfit out. Oh, that was such a special time for me because I adored her and any time spent with Mommy Walsh was special to me.

These were so much fun to stamp and color up! I colored them with Distressed Inks and the card, or stage as I used to call it, is a beer coaster covered with a solid paper. I used peach for Anya and aqua for Ian. That way the clothes show up a bit better. I ran the paper through my cuttlebug for some depth. I like the texture that it added to the background. I placed a small BasicGrey Magnet on each side of the card and on the back of Anya and Ian. That way they can stay on the card! I also placed one backing of the magnets on the back of each set of clothes. Makes them almost like the cling foam type dolls!

And here's a picture of the babies in either their undies or swim suits. You decide!

These would be a perfect surprise for a little girl or for a big girl who wanted to revisit a sweet time from her youth. I had such a great time with this set and I've got 6 or 7 people who I think need this diversion. I'm off to make some more! Have a great Saturday!

Oh, and a very talented stamper, Sonia, accidently deleted her blog. Here's her new blog and it would be great if you could stop and leave her some love!

Card Ingredients: Dress Me by The Greeting Farm, Dress Me Wardrobe by The Greeting Farm, Distressed Inks, Prima Flowers, Dew Drops, pearls, cuttlebug divine swirls and argyle folders, Stickles.

Couple of quick notes

People have asked how the babies are doing. Well just great! Here's a picture of Allie, who is now almost 8 months old and loves bath time! Who doesn't want to be this happy. And Emma is almost 8 1/2 months old and just crawled yesterday! I don't know about you, but I'd love to have all Emma's hair! They're both just precious and aren't Nana's girls just beautiful? How fast the time flies by. Sorry, but I can't get the picture of Emma any larger. I think it's how I copied it. Such cuties my girls are!

Just wanted to let you know that I'll be back late tonight with a cute take on the Dress Up Anya and Ian and their wardrobe. The batteries in my camera died last night and it's rainy and grey and the lighting just isn't good. I work at the bowling alley tonight and didn't want you to think I wasn't thinking about you guys. I'd much rather be with you, but alas, the pocketbook calls!

My Little Pink Book Tutorial and Guest Designer Call!

This is long, but please bear with me! Today I'm going to take another shot at doing a tutorial. I love little packages for things and have just discovered a great way to make envelopes and use them as a cover for these great Journal Cards by Pebbles. Susana at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design has a great variety of them and almost all of the supplies that I used in doing the project. You can use them for just about anything! I make notes on dates, To Do Lists, sketches or notes on supplies I need, blog or companies I want to check out. These journal cards are so versatile that you can use them for just about anything!

As for this tutorial, I'll try and make it as easy as I possibly can. Here's what you'll need:

12 x 12 paper, Scor-Pal or scoring tool, cutter, stamped image (I used Eloquently Evil by Smirks because I love her!), Scor-tape, brads, Journal Cards, Scrapper's Floss, embellishments (I pulled together some Bazzill flowers, Bella Baubles and my Martha Stewart Branch punch, and my stickles because I love the glitter!)

Here we go:

1. Cut your paper for the envelope 7" x 10" (This dimension happens to fit the journal cards).

2. Score our card diagonally at 1/4" and at 6 3/4" all the way down the page.

3. Then turn the sheet and score it at 2 1/2" and at 7" all the way down the sheet.

4. Cut the 1/4" on both sides of the card off down to the first diagonal score line, 2 1/2" down. Then go down to the second diagonal score line, 7" down and cut off the 1/4" on both sides.

5. Fold up the 3" bottom piece at the score line. Place a 3" strip of Scor-Tape on the over flap on both sides.

6. Remove the protective covering on both sides of the Scor-Tape and gold the two 1/2" flaps over at the score line.

7. Fold down the top 2 1/2" flat at the score line. Insert a brad on the top flap and on the bottom of the back of the envelope. These will be the closures for the card.

8. Slip the cards inside the envelope!

9. I used some Scrapper's Floss as the string for to keep the envelope closed. I love this stuff!

10. Decorate the front of the envelope however you'd like. I love this sassy Smirk. I can just see her scheming on what's going to be included in her Little Pink Book!

Try It Out Tuesday #8 - Just Because

I love being able to give things "Just Because". I don't get the chance very often, but when I can, it makes me feel like a million bucks. This is a card that I would have great fun giving to someone. The inside can hold a gift card, money, tickets, just a little something to make some one's day a bit brighter.

Suzanne, our fearless Design Team Leader for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design team, challenges us every week! This week she challenged us to use stamps from our own Susana's, and make them into charms and to use as many embellishments as we could. Well, I packed mine as full as I could without it being gaudy!

I used three of my favorite shoes from Susana's line (remember, she's not only a great store owner, but a talented illustrator in her own right!) and colored them with copics and then highlighted each of them in different Shimmerz, Mint, Pink Poinsettia, and Iced Lavender. The mint shoes I added some Mermaid Stickles for the jewels around the ankle strap. Each of these shoes remind me of shoes my girls work to their proms and homecomings. I miss those days. Well, back to the card, the background paper is from the Dovecraft Galmour Prints collection, the flowers from Bazzill (I highlighted them with my Pink Shimmerz) and added Pink Rhinestones from Kaisercraft to the middle and on the sentiment. Scrapper's Floss adds a bit of dimension to the flowers and I finished it off with some Oyster Bella Baubles in the corners. Oh, and I used a couple of Crystal Petals above a couple of the charms and Jump Rings to dangle the shoe charms from the Scrapper's Floss.

The inside is just a strip of the leftover paper from the front and the pocket is one of my favorite corner shapers. The Border's Reward card was the only gift type card I had at the house, so please forgive me for just showing it off. The only gift card I had is my Harry Potter from the last book and somehow, it just didn't seem to fit!

Make sure you stop over at Follow Your Heart, our Design Team Blog and take a look at the other great cards from my fellow Design Team Sisters! They'll be sure not to disappoint you!

Roses on Paper Design Team Sketch Challenge - Sheriff Ian

It's snowing here in Maine again and I want to put this up just in case we lose power. I'll be back to add all the details!

Well, the snow's here, but I don't think it's the losing power type for us. It's so fluffy, but we've had about 7 inches fall since about 3:00 this morning!

I didn't want to miss out on our Roses on Paper Design Team Sketch Challenge, this time presented by our ever so talented Rosette! What a great sketch she gave us with lots of layers! Make sure you stop over at our blog and take a look at the other great cards done up by my other inspiring DT buddies!

I've wanted to color up my Sheriff Ian from The Greeting Farm since he landed here at my doorstep! You can pick this cutie and others up from Summer at Roses on Paper. I colored him with Distressed Inks, cut him out and popped him up. I added some Glossy Accents to his hat band and boots and some stickles for his badge and buckle. I don't do guy cards very often so working with him was as much a challenge for me as the sketch!

While you're at it, don't forget to stop by Summer's blog and sign up for her blog candy. It's pretty sweet!

Hope you enjoy Ian and so I don't get arrested by doing something stupid, I'm planning on staying in the house today, stamping and staying put!
