Julia and Paper Piecing
Reading has always been a passion of mine. I'll read anything. Be it a toothpaste box, great book, The Good Book, blogs, newspapers, magazines. You name it and I'll read it. I've had the urge to re-read the Harry Potter series for, well, we won't go into what time around it is for me and Harry!
One of our talented design team members, Danni, from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design, did a tutorial on paper piecing. You can see it at the Store's blog, Follow Your Heart. Since it's something I haven't done before, I thought I'd give it a try. Julia from Rubber Romance was perfect to paper piece. The papers are from the Abstract Pack from Dovecraft, only available in the states from Susana! I followed Danni's tutorial and I think she came out fabulous! And other than Julia's skin the the floor and the distressed wall behind her, everything on the front of the card was paper pieced! I used the sketch from Stamping Vacation's Just Sketchy sketch and loved it. Thanks, Danni, for such a fun stamping evening!
Now, I'm off to start Chapter 1 of Book 1 of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone!
Card Recipe: Julia from Rubber Romance, Abstract Pack from Dovecraft, 14 Karat Glitter dots, Gold Sparklers, Glossy Accent, Atyou Clear Glitter pen, Blue Moon heart charms, ribbon.

Love My Sarah Kays!
I love remembering when things were simple. I love going to school when I was younger and when I discovered books, I discovered passion. I couldn't stop reading. Dick and Jane readers gave way to Dr. Seuss and then I discovered Laura Ingalls Wilder and Little House on the Prairie. Then came Nancy Drew. Oh, how I loved those books. I loved that I could open the front cover and go anywhere I wanted, be anything I wanted to. My imagination took off and hours could go by and I wouldn't realize it. Some of the Sarah Kay stamps remind me of my trips to the wide opens spaces that Laura lived on and that's The case with A Little Help From Margo. I could replace Margo with my sister, Jonalea, and me as the little sister, only I wasn't quite as angelic looking as this cutie is! One thing I discovered was I'm more like Nancy than Laura!
Every time I see a flower garden, I think of my mother. She can make anything grow! I was embarrassed one time when I sucked up my air fern! But I've learned a lot over the years in gardening and she's right. There's nothing closer to being in heaven than being in a garden, down on your knees, feeling the dirt between your fingers and getting under your fingernails. If we give it love, the earth gives us back beauty. Rose's Garden was done with my mom in mind.
Most of everything on these cards can be picked up from Summer at Roses on Paper. were colored with distressed inks and done for different sketches. A Little Help From Margo was for the weekly Paper Craft Planet's sketch, and Rose's Garden was for Madelyn's Twinkling Tuesday.

Pretty Playthings
I love pretty bottles and the scents that come out of those lovely spray bottles. The thick, cut glass that light sparkles off of, the satiny tassel on the send and the different shaped stoppers that you pull out with that hint of fragrance on it just makes me weak in the knees! I've always been a perfume junkie since I used to buy Youth Dew by Estee Lauder for my Aunt Betty for Christmas. Yep, I started out at the top of the line and my first perfume I picked up for myself wasn't the fragrances from the drug store, I had to get the best - Chanel No. 5! Loved it and still do. There's something about that classy, square glass bottle! And Victoria's Secret Very Sexy for Her. Oh, that's my signature scent now!
Our Design Team Leader, Suzanne, tasked us with highlighting some of the gorgeous design paper that Susana has in the store and restricted us to using only two embellishments. Do you know how hard that was for me? I wanted to use some of the new charms, petals, velvet flock. I could go on but I knept it simple and classy. I ran with the Glamour Prints pack from Dovecraft. I love this paper pack and Susana's is the only place in the US that you can purchase it. I love the hearts on it. Kind of ties these beautiful, classy bottles in with Valentines Day. These beautiful perfume bottles are designed by our very own Susana! Aren't they great? She has such wonderful bottles and shoes! Everything for this card you can pick up in Susana's great store!
I love the paper flowers by Bazzill and the Oyster Bella Baubles are nothing if not classy! It feels like a card just wouldn't be complete without a touch of Shimmerz! Oh, how I love the good things! Hope you do as well.
Make sure that you stop by Susana's store blog, Follow Your Heart, and check out the great work of all the other talented Design Team members and see what great things Susana has in the store! Stop by their blogs to find out all the details. Here they are:
