Try It Out Tuesday #16 - Half and Half!

Did you ever have one of those weeks were everything seemed to fly right past you and you were left just standing still? That's how I felt this week is going. I'm so sorry about being late with getting my Try It Out Tuesday up. I got called to work at the bowling alley and though I'd have time to get my card up, but I've left my power cord to my camera somewhere and it's MIA right now. I'll have to stop and get one on my way home tonight and doesn't that just get my goat. Can you see something but can't walk over to it? It's like you know just where it it but can't seem to get to it? Can I hear an "Amen!"? That's me today.

When our ever creative and talented Design Team Leader, Suzanne, for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design (SCACD) Follow Your Heart blog, gave us the challenge of cutting an image in half, I got sick to my stomach! I find it difficult to trim around the edges of my images but to cut one in half? Well, that was asking for a lot from me. I had to find the right stamp and it couldn't be one of my faeries or Rubber Romance because those are like buddies and pals to me, kindred spirit, and it couldn't be one of Anki's Sweethearts. I helped give life to those sweeties! So what was it going to be? The only thing I had left were my Shy Bears and everyone hopefully knows how much I adore them. So since it had to be one of them, I picked the biggest one I had, Birdhouse Shy Bear and almost closed my eyes and cut! I tried to keep as much of him as possible and I think I did a pretty good job.

Almost everything on this card you can pick up at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. She's got some great deals going on there! Go take a peek! I stamped my image and then the birdhouse two more times - one to cute out the entire house and the second one for the bird. I used some Yellow Velvet Flock for the bird and a bit of Glossy Accents for the roof. I highlighted my Bear's nose with my Grey Souffle pen and then topped it with Glossy Accents and used a bit on his eyes. The bird seed is touched up with Distressed Stickles and some buttons and Scrapper's Floss .

After what I went through cutting up this image, I can see why I'm in administration rather than medicine! I'm just not cut out to make the big cut! I hope you enjoy my halfsies and please don't ask me to cut an image for a while!

Card Ingredients:

Birdhouse Shy Bear by I Break For Stamps from SCACD, Yellow Velvet Flock, Souffle pen, Glossy Accents, Distressed Stickles in Straw, My Mind's Eye Paper, Scrapper's Floss, buttons, Prismacolor Pencils, OMS.

New DT Member for Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog!

I'm so excited to let everyone know that I was asked by Froggy and Mindy to be part of their Design Team for Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog! Thanks so much for the vote of confidence and I can't wait to be part of this very talented, fun team. Stop over and check them out. Great prizes over there so go participate. I'd love to see what you create! My first challenge was to do a spring flower card. I had just stamped up my big Daisy from Magnolia and my sweetie doll Alva popped into my head and I just had to pull her out and stamp her up!

I just adore this Alva! You can do anything with her and she's just got the sweetest face! You can pick Magnolia Stamps from Summer at Roses on Paper. I colored her with my Koh-I-Noor prencils. I haven't used them in so long and had a great time with them. The background paper is from the Citrus pack from DCWV and I used my Hello Kitty die cut from Sizzix. I used some gold pearls in the corners and used my cuttlebug to give the paper a bit of texture. And of course, I had to give her some stickles!

Hope you enjoy my little pixie! I had such fun with her!

Card Ingredients: Alva and Big Daisy by Magnolia, Citrus Paper pack from DCWV, gold pearls, Koh-I-Noor woodless colored pencils, SU ticket punch, cuttlebug folder, stickles, nestabilities, Hello Kitty Sizzix die cut.

Try It Out Tuesday #15 - Blitz and Bling with the Girls

Rubber Romance just seems to fit me. I love their sass and their confidence. I've always had the sass but not always their confidence. But the times in my life when I've had it, bit's been fabulous These beauts take me back to a time when I would get all dressed up and go slinking around the discos, dancing my heart out.

Suzanne, our ever creative Design Team Leader at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design, challenged us with bringing out the blitz and bling. So for me, that was Girls Night Out! I colored these babes with my copics and highlighted them with stickles, shimmerz and spica pens! Their tini glasses are topped off with Glossy Accents and I used those great metallic dew drops on the corners. The paper is that fabulous Retro Paper Pack from Dovecraft that you can only get from Susana and I think it has as much sass as these sassy gals!

You can pick up all the products on this card from Susana's great shop. And while you're looking around her store, make sure you notice that the Smirks are 50% off!

Make sure you stop over at Follow Your Heart and see my other design team buddies creations. They're bound to be fabulous and don't forget your sunglasses. Remember the order of the day today is blitz and bling!

Card Ingredients:

Girls Night Out by Rubber Romances, Stickles, Shimmerz, Atyou Spica Glitter Pen, Metallic Dew Drops, Ribbon Charms, ribbon, cuttlebug folder, Retro Paper Pack from Dovecraft.

Roses on Paper Design Team Color Challenge - Aqua, Peach and Butter Yellow!

There are just some things that tug at your heart. For me, it's a little girl with her baby doll or favorite toy. I remember one of my favorite toys was a striped tiger cat that I still have to this day. I would drag that cat with me everywhere, sleep with her every night. When I saw "Mummy Loves You", from Sarah Kay in Summer's store, Roses on Paper, I knew I had to have her! She reminds me of everything good and innocent from our youth. Looking at her brought back so many summer days out in the back yard sitting on a blanket talking to my sweet kitty, making all sorts of grand plans for my life.

It was my time to host our Roses on Paper Design Team Challenge and I chose some of my favorite colors - Aqua, Peach, and Butter Yellow! I think this Basic Grey Paper from their Gypsy collection was perfect for my little Sarah Kay sweetie, who I colored with distressed inks. The Prima flowers are touched with what else - stickles and I used some dew drops in the corners and the middle of the flowers. I used a bit of Glossy Accents on the ball to give it a bit of dimension and a bit of sparkle along the elastic of her hat. Some scrapper's floss and spring butterfly and flower charms just add a finishing touch. I've highlighted the products that I used on this card that you can pick up from Summer's great store, Roses on Paper. Great stuff!

Make sure you stop by my fellow Design Team Sister's blogs (you can find them on the right hand column on my blog) and our Roses on Paper Design Team blog to see their beautiful creations and join in my color challenge this week. Some of them may not be up until tomorrow, but please stop by and check them out. What I've seen has been fabulous! Join in the challenge because I'd love to see what you create!

I hope everyone gets the opportunity to spend some time telling their favorite person or toy or pet that they love them today. Don't ever miss an opportunity to let someone or something know you love it.

Card Ingredients:

Mummy Loves You by Sarah Kay, Dew Drops, Gypsy Paper by Basic Grey, Scrapper's Floss in Aqua, charms, rub on sentiment from stash, Prima flowers, stickles.
